PITCHFORK: Second Sight

Pitchfork is steaming the first song from our new LP Monsoon Season along with a nice little write up about the band:

“Second Sight” is the lead track from the Toronto quartet’s upcoming full-length debut,Monsoon Season (due March 11 via New Damage), and it’s the best introduction to their big-screen boogie: rather than wade in brawny blooze riffage, Biblical set Sewell’s gnashed-teeth intensity in stark relief to the song’s Motown-schooled rhythmic momentum, richly melodic soloing, and liquid refrains that seem to evaporate into the crisp desert night air mere seconds after they leave the fretboard. Cap it off with a climactic, Red Sea-parting surge of narcotic guitar noise, and you’ve got stoner-rock by way of Cecil B. DeMille.
